1:32 Mongol Horse Archer, Bowman and Rider with Lasso

I really like the design of these figures. Not Asian enough but nicely stylized with long, stretching and gently curving lines. There are three figures here with foot archer integrated into the stand of a lasso-wielding horseman whose horse has all four feet up in the air. The uurga or yypra is sometimes mounted on a pole and is used by the Mongols in both war and in peace-time. Both sides of the recast has the archer cleverly "carrying" the horse and rider.

The second figure is a mounted archer. The Mongolian composite bow is strongly recurved and this is depicted in the nicely modelled curve as the archer is at full draw, but aiming the arrow to his rear by twisting his torso. A very dynamic pose!

The Airfix range of military figures is one of the iconic brands of plastic toy soldiers I grew up with. Airfix is a UK manufacturer of plastic scale model kits founded in 1939 by Humbrol and currently owned by Hornby, a famous UK model railway brand. This is the latest reissue of their classic Deutsche Afrika Korps, the German expeditionary force in Libya and Tunisia during the North African Campaign of World War II. The box contains 14 figures.
